Born in 1942, Rock Icon Jimi Hendrix considered to be the greatest rock guitarist ever photographed in 1967 by Gered Mankowitz. Working with Gered is a real honour, not only is his work absolutely fantastic he is a pleasure to deal with. This fantastic photograph is signed and numbered by Gered Mankowitz personally and looks so much better in the flesh that this image we show, as does all of our art. There is a white border around the edge of the photograph which not only allows for a signature but really makes the image look more powerful. The Rolling Stones photograph by Gered Mankowitz
Formed in 1962 The Rolling Stones still rule the waves for the greatest Rock and Roll Band in history. In 1965 photographer Gered Mankowitz had the honour of photographing the band members in London.
First popular in the UK and Europe and later conquered the US with 22 studio albums in the UK and 24 in the US, eight concert albums in the UK and 9 in the US- all selling 200 million albums worldwide. Tracks include; Route 66, Brown Sugar, Jumping Jack Flash, Honky Tonk Woman, (I can’t get no) Satisfaction, Ruby Tuesday, It’s only Rock ‘N’ Roll (but I like it).
The band originally consisted of multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart and joined by vocalist Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and Bassist Bill Wyman. Ian Stewart then took a step from the official lineup to become their road manager and keyboardist until 1985 when he sadly passed away. Mick Taylor replaced Brian Jones shortly before Jones’s tragic and premature death July 1969 at the age of 27. Five years later Ronnie Wood replaced Taylor. Wyman left The Rolling Stones in 1992.
